Criclounge Ball to Ball Commentary
So that ends a terrific match and I hope you enjoyed our coverage. This is Sriram Madhav signing off on behalf of Nirav Panchal, Navneet Kumar and the entire Criclounge Team. Bye, and Keep smiling!
Johan Botha: It was a small ground, but I felt there was a good grip on the ball. After the rain I was worried, but I stuck to the basics and the game went in our way. Its a challenge for the bowlers to play here in small grounds, but we have to trust yourself and perform well. The Hashim Amla catch was awesome, its very tough and Hashim did well to catch that.
Johan Botha is the Man of the Match for his bowling figures that read 4-0-20-2.
AB de Villers: Amazing team effort, the boys played extremely well. I am really proud of them. It was tough batting second, JP and I batted well but we lost momentum in the middle, I knew it would be tough to defend and we did not give up and won it in the end. I believe that de Lange is a good bowler and I trusted him. We are feeling very good about the win, and we don't want to put too much emphasis on the result, we have to play and win the world cup and start winning ICC events.
Brendon Mc Cullum: The game is a well in our hands, but we were found wanting in the end. South Africa continued to apply pressure and were not good enough in the crucial situations. Our bowlers did an outstandng job and we did well in the field too. We have to take a good hard look and asses our performance. The last few overs we looked to finish the game too early but we should have played it in singles and twos. Jesse Ryder was outstanding at the start, but all credit to South Africa to do so well in the pressure. We are looking to do better in ODIs.
Boy! What a match this has turned out to be! It was just the edge of the seat thriller in the last over here! It is just unbelievable! It all started with the Kiwis taking the South African bowling apart. It was looking all good for the Kiwis till Ryder got to 49. He got stuck and played it defensively and ended up gifting the match, and thereby the series on a platter.
The Kiwis after that were just simply playing catch up in the last two overs and some brilliant death bowling ensured that the South Africans snatched the victory out of the jaws of defeat here. New Zealand will be very gutted because they lost the chance to win the match and seal the series. They were looking well set and suddenly they have lost it all. Phew! As I take a small break, the players will be out for the presentation ceremony, Stay tuned.
