Indian middle-order batsman Virat Kohli was reprimanded for breaching the ICC code of conduct by showing dissent to an umpire's decision after his dismissal in the Motera one-day against West Indies that India have lost by 15 runs.

"India batsman Virat Kohli has been reprimanded for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during his team's ODI against the West Indies in Ahmedabad on Monday," the ICC said in a statement.

Kohli was found guilty for a Level 1 offence and accepted the proposed sanction from match referee David Boon after the conclusion of third one-day.

Kohli was adjudged lbw off debutant spinner Sunil Narine at an individual score of 20 but he stood his ground for a substantial time before ultimately leaving the crease.

However, there was no need for a formal hearing as Kohli accepted the charge brought by on-field umpires Tony Hill and Sudhir Asnani and third umpire Vineet Kulkarni.

"Accepting umpires' decisions is part and parcel of playing cricket and on this occasion Virat clearly showed dissent when he had been given out," David Boon said.
