Man of the Match – Peter Siddle
Indians walked into the field today needing to bat 90 overs to save this match, that was a task that was impossible to say the least. Aussies had to pickup four wickets to thump the Indians 4-0. When they walked out to the field, they just did that. It was nothing but a mere formality and Indians surrendered meekly, an art that they have seemed to master over the last 8 test matches.
Ishant, Saha, Zaheer and Umesh almost batted like the perfect tail order batsmen, probably with the exception of Zaheer who had some fun and stroked some boundaries.Nathan Lyon picked up his five wicket haul, Haddin took four catches and thus ended the misery. The Indian bowlers managed to take 46 wickets in this series while Ben Hilfenhaus and Peter Siddle together grabbed 50. That alone sums up the state of this series.
This pretty much sums up the state of the Indian test team. They perhaps have hit the lowest ebb possible in the game and they only have to look forward from now. There are tasks that need to be done, decisions that are to be taken, and questions needed to be answered.
Match Presentation
M Clarke : Lot of credit has to go to the players and support staff. The job we have done in last two months is amazing. There have been few ups and downs in last few months but in the end we got there (at top). Disappointment of last summer and hard work is the key to our recent success. Every day we want to train hard and you see the result. Australian public loves the Indian team, they are in bit of slack but the team is full of legends. I hope it gets better (my batting), my game still needs improvement.
M Clarke : Man of the Series
MS Dhoni : Australians played consistent cricket. Their batsmen played well in partnership when needed and their bowlers also stepped up when needed. You have to be consistent with your line and length in Australia. Once a batsman is set, it gets difficult to get him out. We will have to wait and watch. Next series we play is in September. We know what went wrong in Australia and England. Plenty of time to think and take decision. A Good ODI series coming up. ODI Team is full of youngsters who love their fielding, that’s one thing we enjoy in shorter version of the game
