The England ODI captain, Alastair Cook, who is on a new high after winning the ODI series against Pakistan 4-0, has indicated that he will stay back for the T20 series as well. It would be a good boost to the England team which is suffering from a few injury problems.
Cook who was not in the best of forms had shot back to his prime with two back to back hundreds in the first two ODIs. He almost got a hat-trick of hundreds and that shows how well he has been hitting the ball in the past few weeks.
Ravi Bopara who is a useful allrounder is suffering from a stiff back and Cook is staying back as a cover. Though he would not be captaining the side, he would love to have a go in a match or two so that he can carry forward his ODI form into the T20 format as well.
In the presentation ceremony, the English captain looked very happy and he said that he would be staying back for the T20 series. He also reckoned that they did well to beat Pakistan considering the fact that they came from a good record in the previous matches.
"It is not often you get to hit the ball as well as I have done, we have a couple of niggles in the batting line-up so it is a reason to stay on. It's been a great week and a half for us. We played some excellent cricket. Pakistan came here with an excellent record and everybody lived up to the challenge."
